Track record

Former COO of Tabs. I built its creator program to 100M monthly social impressions, and the paid ad engine alongside it. The numbers below come from videos that program produced.

Same playbook here: one clear hook per video, losers cut early, winners moved to paid. The category is different: leather belts, wallets and keyfobs, not Tabs. I have not run this category, so the first weeks test formats before I trust any pattern.

Why now

  • 19,500+

    Reviews already say 4.8/5

The page shows 4.8/5 from 19,500+ Reviews. Creators start from a brand customers already rate, so the first videos do not have to build trust from zero.

    Published
  • CA$125

Free shipping gives a clear line

Free shipping on orders over CA$125. A creator can build a belt-plus-keyfob cart around it and say it plainly.

    Published
  • CA$39.00

Mystery Wallet Seconds is a ready hook

List price struck at CA$99.00, now CA$39.00, and the brand picks design and color. That is a first unboxing video with a built-in surprise.

Part 4 of 15

Principles

  1. One number to protect

Cost per 1,000 views, with a Proposed target of CA$1. The simulator prints CA$5.74 on assumption inputs, so every test is judged against that gap.

  2. Seven videos, one variable

Each creator posts seven a week, 303 a month at ten creators. A test changes only the hook, so we know which opening on the belt or wallet worked.

  3. Pay the cap, reward breakouts

Caps run from CA$600 to CA$1,500 by band. A video past 100,000 views earns CA$50 flat. Nobody is paid for views we cannot see organically.

  4. Run it in one shared workspace

Briefs, claim questions, drafts and wins live in one channel set. The brand lead sees every draft before it posts.

  1. ElenaMon 8:30 AM

This week: the Double Prong Belt. One hook, three cuts. Show the roller bar on the solid brass buckle and the polished edge. Seven videos live by Sunday.

  2. MarcusTue 10:15 AM

Can I say the belt will last forever?

No. Say only what the claims sheet says: guaranteed for life, full-grain leather, handcrafted. Nothing about forever.

  3. ElenaWed 2:40 PM

Draft sent back. The first three seconds hide the Maple Leaf keyfob. Open on the stamp, then the brass keyring, then say the hook.

  4. PriyaThu 11:00 AM

Check before I post: the paid partnership label is on, and I only quote lines from the claims sheet. Anything else to confirm?

    All good. Post it.

  5. Report botAppFri 4:05 PM

Video passed 100,000 views, organic only. Flat CA$50 bonus logged for Marcus this month. Moved to the winners channel for a paid test.

  6. Report botAppMon 8:00 AM

Weekly report posted: videos live per creator, views, cost per 1,000 views against CA$1, best hook, and one format to stop.

The messages illustrate the working channel, with invented people: briefs go out on Monday, claims questions get an answer the same day, and nothing posts without the check.

Part 5 of 15

Formats

  1. Belt break-in

    Brief 01

    Belt break-in

“This leather is thick and gets better with age.”

One take at a mirror: thread the strap, show the solid brass buckle, then a close shot of the polished edge.

  2. Wallet pocket dump

    Brief 02

    Wallet pocket dump

“What's in my wallet, and why it's full-grain leather.”

Empty the pockets on a table, then fill the Traditional Bifold back up. Hands only, natural light, one continuous shot.

  3. Trucker hat walk

    Brief 03

    Trucker hat walk

“Built to last through all your daily journeys.”

Walk-and-talk outdoors in the Canadian Goose cap, then a close shot of the build. Blend is 65% Polyester and 35% Cotton.

  4. Keyfob close-up

    Brief 04

    Keyfob close-up

“The most patriotic thing you can clip to a set of keys.”

Clip a keyfob on a real key set, tilt toward the light to show the stamped leather and the solid brass 26mm keyring.

  5. Watch band swap

    Brief 05

    Watch band swap

“Swapping my watch band for natural leather.”

Wrist close-up in daylight: remove the old band, fit the Leather Apple Watch Band, show the buckle side and the grain.

Every product line in a video comes off the claims sheet word for word, for example “No hassle-returns and guaranteed for life.”, “Crafted from thick 9oz full-grain leather, this durable leather develops a rich patina over time.”, “Solid brass 26mm flat keyring and rivet.”. Product names are said as printed.

Part 6 of 15

Recruiting

Four sources in

  • Everyday carry communities

Creators who already post wallets, belts and pocket dumps. They know the category, so the claims sheet is a short read, not a lesson.

  • Customers who already post

Buyers who tag Popov Leather on their own. We ask first, in writing, and only then invite them onto the roster.

  • Outdoor and Canadian lifestyle

Camping, fishing and mountain biking creators fit the Jockey Hat range, which is named after exactly those activities.

  • Affiliate or ambassador page

I did not find one on the site. So the roster starts from direct outreach, not from an existing program.

Five filters, fewer each step

  1. 1Audience fit

Followers who buy men's belts, wallets or everyday gear, not general giveaway crowds.

  2. 2Hands-on video

Shows the product in use. Scripted ad reads and stock-looking clips are cut early.

  3. 3Reads the claims sheet

Quotes only approved lines and asks in the claims channel when unsure.

  4. 4Seven a week, steady

Can ship seven videos a week without the quality dropping by week two.

  5. 5Plain tone

Honest, specific and calm. No hype words, no invented stories about the leather.

Part 7 of 15

Who we want

  • Everyday carry nerd

Shows what lives in the pockets daily and why the wallet earned its place.

Likely product: Traditional Bifold Leather Wallet

  • Workwear and tools

Shows the belt on a work day, weekend and outdoor trip, buckle in frame.

Likely product: Leather Double Prong Belt - 1.5"

  • Outdoor adventurer

Camping, fishing and mountain biking days with the cap on and the story told.

Likely product: Jockey Hat - Camping

  • Dog owner

Daily walks, one matching set, color shown in real light.

Likely product: Matching Dog Collar & Leash Bundle - English Tan

  • Smartwatch wearer

Swaps the strap on camera and shows the fit through a normal day.

Likely product: Leather Apple Watch Band

  • Frequent traveler

Packs the carry-on and shows the passport holder in use at the airport.

    Likely product: Leather Passport Holder

Left off, every time

Always left out: anyone who promises health or miracle outcomes, compares Popov Leather to a named rival, speaks for the guarantee without reading it, or edits product claims. Category rule: leather goods claims come only from the claims sheet.

Part 9 of 15

Claims sheet

Approved, word for word

Quoted exactly as the brand publishes it.

  • “No hassle-returns and guaranteed for life.”

Any video that mentions returns or the guarantee, spoken with the brand's own wording.

  • “Crafted from thick 9oz full-grain leather, this durable leather develops a rich patina over time.”

Keyfob videos and any close-up of the leather aging.

  • “Solid brass 26mm flat keyring and rivet.”

Keyfob close-ups where the ring is in frame.

  • “Our belt is made from strong 9oz full-grain leather.”

Belt break-in videos, said while the strap is in hand.

  • “1.5” strap width fits through standard belt loops on any pair of jeans; it's our classic strap width.”

Belt videos showing the strap going through jeans loops.

  • “cut and stamped from our thickest belt leather right here in Canada.”

Maple Leaf keyfob videos, read as written.

Never said

Each one with the reason it stays out.

  • This belt will last forever.

The page says guaranteed for life and a rich patina over time, not forever.

  • It never cracks or wears out.

An absolute durability promise the site does not make.

  • Better than any other leather brand.

No comparisons to named or unnamed rivals.

  • You can pick the color of the Mystery Wallet.

The page says the brand picks the design and the color.

  • Free shipping on every order.

Free shipping applies to orders over CA$125, and not to remote regions.

  • Hypoallergenic leather that helps your skin.

Health claims are never made by creators; only the brand's own wording is used by the brand.

To confirm with the brand

Held until someone on the brand side signs off.

  • Guaranteed for life

Ask the brand what the guarantee covers before creators describe it beyond the page wording.

  • Made in Canada on every product

Confirm which products it applies to before a creator says it of a hat or an accessory.

Part 10 of 15

Pay and bonus

  • Starter

    CA$300–600

    a month, by band

For new creators proving they can ship seven videos a week on belts and keyfobs.

    Bonus at the cap: CA$300

  • Standard

    CA$500–1,000

    a month, by band

For creators whose hooks hold up and who stay inside the claims sheet week after week.

    Bonus at the cap: CA$500

  • Premium

    CA$800–1,500

    a month, by band

For proven creators with outdoor or workwear audiences that fit hats, bags and bundles.

    Bonus at the cap: CA$700

  1. Under 100,000 views

    CA$0

The base pay covers the work.

  2. 100,000 views

    +CA$50 flat

    Whatever the band.

  3. 1,000,000 views

    Top-up to your cap

Bonus = band cap − base pay.

  • One bonus per creator per month: the CA$50 flat for a video past 100,000 views.
  • Per video, not per account: the single video has to pass 100,000 views on its own.
  • Organic views only. Views bought or boosted through ads never count.
  • No bonus on a video that broke the claims sheet or the category rule, even if it took off.

Starter: CA$600 cap − CA$300 fee = CA$300 bonus; Standard: CA$1,000 cap − CA$500 fee = CA$500 bonus; Premium: CA$1,500 cap − CA$800 fee = CA$700 bonus.

The bonus pays for reach after the work is done, never instead of it. One bonus per creator per calendar month keeps it an incentive and keeps the program cost predictable.

Part 11 of 15

Simulator

On assumption inputs, ten creators make 303 videos a month and cost CA$10,050 for 1.8M views: CA$5.74 per 1,000 against the CA$1 target. It takes 4.2% viral videos or a median of 21,711 views.

Above the CA$1 target at these inputs.

To hit CA$1, the roster needs about 10.1M views a month. That means about 4.2% of videos going viral, or a median near 22K views per video. That is why the day-90 gate exists: keep the accounts that clear it, replace the rest.

Proposed, not measured. Views = videos × median, breakouts at 10× the median, viral at 750K. Bonus: +CA$50 for a viral video, one per creator per month.

The math. Videos a month = 10 creators × 7 a week × 52 ÷ 12 = 303. Views per video = (1 − 4% − 0.5%) × 1,500 + 4% × 10 × 1,500 + 0.5% × 750,000 = 5,782.5; 303 videos × 5,782.5 = 1.8M views a month. Cost = 10 × CA$1,000 = CA$10,000 base + 1 bonus × CA$50 = CA$10,050. Cost per 1,000 views = CA$10,050 ÷ 1.8M × 1,000 = CA$5.74 against a CA$1.00 target. To hit the target, either 4.2% of videos go viral or the median video reaches 21,711 views, other inputs held.

Move the sliders and the label recalculates. The result is only as good as the guesses behind it, so the median views, the share of breakouts and the share of viral videos are marked as Assumptions until the first month of posts replaces them.

  2. Month 1

    Ramp to the full roster

The roster climbs two creators a week: 0, 2, 4, 6, 8, 10 live. Seven videos each per week, one hook per test, losers killed early.

  3. Month 2

    Full roster, 303 videos

Ten creators, 303 creator videos a month. Creators whose hooks hold up move to the Standard band; weak formats are dropped.

  4. Month 3

    Winners move to paid

The best hooks go into paid with creator permission. The CA$50 bonus keeps counting organic views only.

  5. Day 90

    Read cost against CA$1

Compare cost per 1,000 views to the CA$1 target. Keep, resize or stop. The decision is made on the number, not on the mood.

Organic to paid

From organic to paid

  1. Pick the winner

Choose organic videos past 100,000 views or the best hook per format from the Monday report.

  2. Get usage in writing

Ask the creator for paid usage rights before anything is boosted. No surprise ads.

  3. Test as an ad

Run the same hook in paid, one variable at a time, with the claims sheet applied again.

  4. Scale or stop

If cost per 1,000 views holds against the CA$1 target, add budget. If not, the video is retired.

From the video to the checkout

  • Belt videos point to the Leather Belt product pages, where the price is shown to the customer.
  • Mystery Wallet Seconds videos point to its page: CA$39.00, struck from CA$99.00.
  • Mention free shipping over CA$125 only when the cart in the video actually clears it.
  • Dog collar and leash bundle videos point to the bundle page at CA$98.00.
  • No retailer shelf is used: no store or retailer was found in the research.

Part 15 of 15

Category rules

Leather goods rules

Belts, wallets and keyfobs are physical goods with a guarantee. These six rules keep every creator inside what Popov Leather already says.

  • Say what the page says

Quote only lines from the claims sheet, such as guaranteed for life or full-grain leather. If a line is not on the sheet, ask in the claims channel first.

  • Patina is wear, not damage

Show the leather aging as the brand describes it: a rich patina over time. Never present scratches or marks as a defect or as a product promise.

  • Price as the page shows it

Say prices exactly as the page writes them, in CAD, such as CA$39.00 for Mystery Wallet Seconds. Never convert or round. Free shipping starts over CA$125.

  • Materials, product by product

Trucker hats are 65% Polyester and 35% Cotton; Jockey hats are 100% cotton. Say the material of the product in frame, never a general one.

  • The guarantee in the brand's words

Say guaranteed for life only as written. Do not explain what it covers; send that question to the claims channel and let the brand answer.

  • Label it, no rival talk

Every post carries the paid partnership label. No comparisons to other leather brands and no health promises of any kind.

The brand’s legal team sets the final rules. This is the operating floor I’d start from, not legal advice.
